How would you deliver this help to as diverse a group as possible making it easy to use and cost efficient for them? How would you ensure that it would spark change people could benefit from, and that could multiply, creating positive downstream effects that not even you could imagine?
Starting at a young age I began pondering these questions. Like so many other people I saw social issues that I wanted to help address. Issues that I felt either held back or frustrated the efforts of ordinary everyday people to improve their position in life or that held back people who wanted a fresh start in life. These social issues included limited educational and employment opportunities, adult illiteracy, homelessness, lack of educational and employment training for people who had been incarcerated and having paid back their debt to society were eager for the chance at building a new life.
Over time I realized that if people had access to the knowledge and skills they needed to succeed, had fair opportunities available to them and they applied themselves not only would they help themselves but society as well. We could not only alleviate these specific problems but we would then be in a better position to plan our time, energies, and efforts toward other societal issues. I also realized that there were many, many people in the world who feel the same way I did and who were already dedicated to self-improvement, were busily helping others to become the best version of themselves possible or who were developing a plan to help others.
So, I created this website. It is a systemic approach to give people access to the tools they could use to achieve success as they define it and put them in the position to help others do the same. The site is in its infancy but it will be continuously expanding. I have worked for years curating links to articles, sites, videos, images, pins and books that I recommend. These resources will be added to the site on a regular basis as will be success stories and quotes to help inspire and motivate you to action while maintaining your spirits when you feel challenged.
In addition to this website serving as a hub of educational and personal success-based resources, I also want it to be a place that people can learn about the social issues facing us as a society that need to be addressed. By identifying these issues, learning about their causes and effects from different perspectives, we can put ourselves in a better position to solve them. Just like there are people who have strategies and tips for personal success to share; there are also people who have ideas about how to resolve our societal problems and some of them are actively taking steps towards this end. That section of this site is for anyone who wants to get involved in addressing any of these concerns but are not sure how to get started.
Lastly, I know that while each individual person can make a huge positive difference in the world, it is when we learn from each other and work together that we can leverage our efforts to make a much larger impact than if we are working alone. A goal of this website is creating a network of like-minded people and linking information on how to make a difference so that we can create a density of purpose, energy, and support for us all to become successful.
Are these goals too large to be successful? Will this site serve as a giant leverage point to influence the future? Can it be used to maximize our efforts to help make the world a better place for everyone, regardless of their race, creed, color, religion, age, sexual identity, country of origin and social status? Ultimately, only time will tell but I do believe the chances of success are much greater than that of failure if enough people with differing backgrounds participate.
I grew up in an environment that was diverse and had family and friends of different racial, religious and ethnic backgrounds. Not only have the divisions between people frustrated and confounded me, but I have always believed that one of the main reasons behind our country’s success is that our diversity has served us well as a competitive advantage over other countries. When confronted with adversity, our different beliefs and systems of thought allowed us to approach these challenges from many perspectives and points of view and helped us to find creative solutions. I believe that this is one of the reasons that in order for us to remain a great country we need to continue to embrace and celebrate these differences as one of our true sources of strength!
We are all in this world together. I believe that if we listed our truest priorities and then shared them with each other we would find out that we are all far more alike than we imagine. I think that we would find that it is our families, our faiths, our friends, our memories of the past and our hopes for the future that we all held most dear. Let us work together toward shared goals that we can all enjoy and make the world a better place.
There are a number of ways that you can help this website become successful. The number one way is for you to use it yourself. If you are trying to improve your (or your son’s, daughter’s etc.) grades at school or create a more positive mindset or develop positive habits; then check out the ‘achievement’ section of the site. If you are or are going to be a small business owner and want to find resources to help your business then check out our ‘entrepreneurship’ section. If you enjoy reading inspirational quotes then check out the quotes we have. Whichever way you use the site please tell me your thoughts because your feedback on what works and what you think I should add to it is invaluable!
Outside of this, I think the best way you can support SATFS.com is to spread the word about it verbally, through email, text, and/or social media. Even if you don’t use it yourself just by sharing it with people who will find it to be useful you will be contributing to it. Hopefully they will use it, find it helpful, share their story with me and then spread the word themselves. Moreover, they may have their own website, book or video that we may be able to link to and make the site that much stronger while helping themselves- a true win-win!
The future will become what we commit ourselves to make it.
Let’s make it the brightest future possible for all!
Let’s go there together!
